These are the kind of thing I always keep an eye out for in op shops and the like, unfortunately this style is not particularly popular. I am not much into long sleeved, high necked blouses at the moment, I am a bit tired of that from wearing them so much this year! The jackets are amazing though.
I definitely think that my style does tend more towards comfortable these days too, and she really pulls off outfits that look stylish but comfy.
I'm not a fan of the turbans, but I love the long sleeved high neck blouses and turtlenecks you mentioned and her robes are also very nice. I'd like to be as stylish, but sophisticated when I'm older.
ReplyDeleteNot sure turbans would suit me either, I look bald if I cover my hair because I have a high forehead. A velvet hairband in the right shape would look good though.
DeleteThe jackets and head scarves! Love. I've taken to wearing a velvet head wrap and it reminds me of this quite a lot. Exquisite and decadent fabrics.
ReplyDeleteOh that sounds lovely! Yes, I adore decadent fabrics! Can't get enough burned out velvet and embroidered pieces!
DeleteHellen Mirren is just awesome in general :)
ReplyDeleteI adore the woman!
DeleteHi Laura, I love this movie and the book series. I'm not much into high necks either, but I do love long, unstructured jackets and big costume jewelry. Turbans? Nope, I'd probably die from the hot flashes they'd bring on!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Victoria
Oh dear, yes, head things really do keep your head warm! :P
DeleteAnother worthy inspiration. I hope to be half as awesome as Mirren when I am her age. I even like the turbans.
ReplyDeleteI hope I am even a quarter as awesome as her! ;)
DeleteHi Laura, it's too hot where I live to hardly ever wear long-sleeve anything, but I like the concept and some of the jackets.
ReplyDeleteYeah Australia is like that in Summer, at least Winter is fairly mild, lets you try different things out in differnt seasons.
DeleteI love Helen! She is always so elegant and stylish! I think my favorite outfit here is the one she is wearing in the library...so very gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Gina
yes I long for that gold kimono!
DeleteI love her turbans here! They look so regal. I've been wearing turbans lately, especially before I cut my hair.
ReplyDeleteTurbans kind of make me look bald because of my high hairline but I am keeping an eye out for nice headbands, I have one good one that looks quite bohemian!
DeleteHelen Mirren is one of my favourite actresses and in this movie she features a great excentric style!
ReplyDeleteShe is wonderful! :)
