Writing Update and winning NaNoWriMo!

I did it, I 'won' NaNoWriMo! 50 000 words!

There aren't any prizes as such, but there are some discounts, such as on the novel writing software Scrivener, which might be good to try. Plus there is the biggest prize of having written a large part of your novel!

It seems that there was a little glitch with the wordcount a couple of days ago, and I thought I had written more than I had, but I didn't dwell on it, and now I have made my word count. NaNoWriMo has been really inspiring for me, and I am determined to keep pushing on, and finish the first draft! Things are also slowing down a bit as I reach the end, trying to finish is always a little terrifying, but I am getting there, and I am happy with the quality of what I am writing! I am also really excited about upcoming changes and chapters I plan to add in. The novel may still change a lot before it is finally finished, but that is always a good thing! And winning Nano has given me a great confidence boost to keep going! Once you know you can do something, it's a lot easier to believe it!

20th November- 2216 words
22nd November- 613 words
23rd November- 1022 words
25th November-  5554 words
NaNoWriMo so far- 52359 words!

Inspirational Interiors

Coffin bed for the guest bedroom. Mua ha ha. If they think that is shocking, wait 'til they find the electric eel in the bathtub!

A bird palace for Isambard

Hitchcock and the MGM Lion taking tea

Perfect sofa!

The bedsheets are a bit modern for me, and a little too starey, with those eyesockets, but things like the painting, candelabra, chandelier etc. are a lot how I imagine my future decor. I like the idea of using a lot of minimalist Victorian in black and white.

I have wanted a four poster bed since I was a child! I would probably have more old fashioned looking bedsheets, though, and not that lady-shaped lamp.

Velvet sofas are another thing I have known I have to have since I was a child! I love both this medallion backed sofa and the dress!

The Clockmaker fundraiser on Indiegogo

Garrett contacted me about this fascinating looking Steampunk film fundraiser on Indiegogo. From the teaser video, it looks like there is some very nice Steampunk tech in there! It is a post apocalyptic Steampunk Western, and it sounds really interesting.

You can check it out here

There are only 19 days left, so if you think there aren't enough Steampunk films around (and lets face it, there aren't) consider donating something, every little bit helps.

You can also help out by sharing this on facebook, your blog, tweeting it, etc.

This is their facebook page.

Here is an awesome still from their facebook page.

If you believe in independent film, check it out!

Outfit Update: November

Jazz age inspired outfit, I would have preferred if the dress was a bit longer, but it looks OK with tights and I loved the grey lace, it is unusual to see a lace dress in this colour.

I am not sure about the jacket though, I think it is a bit garish. What do you think?

Beads- costume jewellery shop
Dress- secondhand
Jacket- fashion sale store
Paintings behind me- from an op shop, they will go up somewhere, one day.

I wore this to my university anthology launch, you can see the post here.

I like how the dress trails behind me in this picture, reminds me of a ghost.

The outfit was inspired by a Margaret Attwood short story, Isis in Darkness, the character of a female poet in that always inspired me when I was younger. I always wanted to be a stylish and talented writer, and I felt like I had finally arrived at who I wanted to be that night, with my work published in a university anthology, and a fashion style of my own. I am succeeding!

Look how long my hair is now!

Earrings- ankh earrings from Starfish, scarab earring self made
Necklace- ankh attached to beaded necklace
Embroidered shawl- street stall
Scarab bracelet- secondhand
Scarab ring- secondhand
Black velvet jacket- secondhand
Dress- secondhand

I've been a bit inspired by hippie editions of Victoriana recently. I loved this dress the day I found it at a street stall!

Pink matte satiny top- street stall
White chenille lacy dress- street stall
Purple and burgundy striped socks- Sockdreams

I love the details on this dress! Look at the pintucks, layering and lace trim!
