Day 26 – Show a photo for every year (or month if you’re new) that you’ve being into Goth.
I don't know if I have that many good pictures. I may do a post on this in the future if I ever find any. I didn't used to be hugely into taking photos when I went out.
Day 27 – The worst thing you ever did to a newbie.
I never did anything bad to a newbie, I am not like that. I may have laughed at bad fashion choices behind people's backs when I was very young and callow, but lets face it, I still judge anyone who makes bad fashion choices in any culture although I will not publicly call them out.
Day 28 – Do you consider yourself an eldergoth?
I am definitely pretty knowledgeable about the music, history of the culture and the various films and books inspired by the Gothic genre, and have done a lot of reading both on the cultural movement created by the music and the genre. At the moment elder Goth seems to mean a Goth over 30, so I am not quite there yet, at this point it also means someone who was around in the earlier days of the movement, which I unfortunately was not. but I think I will maybe be able to be considered an elder goth at 30. we will see.
Day 29 – What do you think will happen to Goth in the future?
It has already influenced and been influenced by Cyberpunk and Steampunk. I don't think it will ever stay static but continue to change to stay alive as most cultures have to.
Day 30 – Make a list of blogs you regularly read and link to them. See my sidebar.
A couple of weekends ago (Saturday 15th August) I went to the Holly Black and Cassandra Clare talk and book signing at Kinokuniya bookshop with my awesome friend Emily.
Holly and Cassie and two of my favourite authors ever so I was so thrilled to be able to finally meet them! They were so intelligent, funny and encouraging to their readers who are also interested in writing. They are clearly great friends and also really nice people in real life!
On the train down with Emily.
Holly and Cassandra. Holly has awesome blue hair and lipstick which was a cool surprise, she must have changed it recently. Cassandra is gorgeous as a redhead, as always.
Despite the big numbers that turned up, Holly and Cassie had a little chat with everyone which just proves what genuinely sweet ladies they are! Helpfully, Kinokuniya arranged a staff member to take photos of us in front of the authors.
Holly said she had the same dress as me which was so cool!
All in all it was a fantastic day! Spending time with my awesome friend and meeting two ladies I really admire! It has also encouraged me to keep going with my writing. Who knows, I may end up writing a story together with these ladies one day!
Cute Goth girl growing up in a mansion, talking to the ghosts of her parents, climbing trees on full moon nights.
Her tutor is Bigfoot, she never has to go to school. The house is filled with suits of armor, portraits that seem to watch you. A Goth's playground.
Miniature wolves are her pets. She has a huge library room.
Her dresses are cute but allow movement to run and play and black doesn't show stains.
No one tells her what to do. She never has to grow up. Every day is Halloween.
grey, red (various shades)
already have two nice cardigans and a few nice jackets so I am probably
set there. The basic style is a cute dress with plain black or lace
stockings if it is cold and either my Mary Jane shoes or my ankle boots.
The occasional blouse and skirt combo as well.
If there was a dream jacket it would be this:
I have this jacket which should go well with the other things. Yes, I want it in black, don't tempt me!
Cute dress, boots or Mary Janes, jacket or jumper if needed.
Inspirations: Wednesday Addams, Alice in Wonderland, Violet Baudelaire.
Accessories: Black shoulder bag or handbag, parasol.
