Finding Your Place

Life shouldn't be all about money, I would like to have a job where I can help the environment or animals, of course, there aren't a lot of paid jobs in that area.

We are killing the world and there isn't a lot of caring going on. Our government won't even support sustainable energy schemes! We have sun all year round and they won't support sustainable energy companies, although Europe already is. We also don't have a carbon tax!

Of course I still suffer from anxiety, I feel like I could get through it with the right job. Something I really cared about. Not a big public role, but something behind the scenes.

It's exhausting when no one in power cares about things that matter.

  1. I hope you get the job you want, and I agree with you on the environmental stuff, I actually still feel like we can do a lot more than we're doing in Europe, Germany seems to do the whole recycling thing really well but in the UK, not so much.

  2. Oh Laura, I feel just the same. We might have alternative energy sources here in Europe, but there's so much more we could do...
But when we do our best, one step at a time, maybe others will join us.

  3. You are SO right, and it's very frustrating and exhausting, indeed. I've had jobs that I mostly enjoyed, but I've never had a job that made me WANT to get up and go to work in the morning, except when I was interning at the REM. And of course, that was unpaid, and I was working a full-time job as well. Sometimes I think it really WILL take a worldwide disaster for most people to understand how uncaring and crass we and our leaders have become...

  4. I hear you on that too. It is the same here in Canada. *hugs*

  5. Don't let the unemployment get you down, honey! Get well first and then back to work. Or maybe you could do some internships first? To see if this is the right decision?

  6. I feel like people are caring more about the environment these days. Hang in there...

  7. Oh Laura, I feel exactly the same way...exhausted from trying to understand why governments around the world, including my own, don't, or WON'T, understand that no life will exist unless they all, every one of them, take huge, immediate steps to reverse climate change!

    (((((((((((((((((((((((((((( Laura )))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

    Blessings,

    Victoria

  9. Indeed. I've had this conversation over and over (mostly with family members). People always ask why I don't "get a real job". They go on and on, "with your education," they say, "you can make some serious money." Well, I like my life the way it is. I don't make much money writing. But it makes me happy, it keeps me sane, it makes me feel alive. The rest is just... stuff.
